The Branch Trainers, Assessors and Facilitators gathered at Sawtell Surf Club for their annual preseason meeting.
25 TAFs had a hands-on session, training in the new Lifesaving CPR method of resuscitation. They completed online modules, watched a video presentation and practised the new method for non-complex resuscitation for one, two, three and four person resuscitation.
They used QCPR manikins which showed their efficiency in depth of compressions and the amount of ventilation provided.
This is being rolled out nationally to have a consistent approach whilst on patrol and is supported by medical research to start compressions in a shorter amount of time. That is, getting the blood to the brain and back to the heart so recovery of patient is maximised.
Remember also, that most CPR occurs in the home environment, so the method is particularly applicable here as well.
Thank you to Sawtell surf club for the use of your facilities, SLSNSW representatives Emma and Laura.
