Garry Howe
Garry Howe has been a dedicated member of Urunga SLSC since 2005 and has contributed across almost every area of club life. Over the years he has served as IRB Captain, President, Director of Finance and Chief Training Officer, before being recognised with Life Membership of Urunga SLSC in 2022.
Outside of the surf club, Garry spent 20 years at sea, finishing his career as a Chief Officer and holding a Master 1 Licence Foreign Going. That depth of maritime knowledge, combined with his calm leadership style, has made him a natural fit in surf lifesaving, both on patrol and in competition arenas.
Surf Sports has always been one of Garry’s great passions. He has been an accredited official for more than 15 years and has taken on key roles as Deputy Referee at both the NSW Country Championships and the NSW Interbranch Championships. He is also active at the Branch level, supporting the development of athletes, officials and events across the North Coast.
Garry’s vast experience, along with his commitment to community and to surf lifesaving, ensures that the North Coast Branch Surf Sports portfolio is in very capable hands.
