WOOLGOOLGA – 12 DECEMBER 2021
The first junior carnival of the season kicked off last weekend with Woolgoolga hosting on behalf of SLS North Coast Branch. The Carnival saw Surf Club’s travel from Minnie Water in the North and Nambucca in the South, all to compete in surf sports for the ultimate prize of being named The Winning Club of the Day.
The day commenced with a stunning sun rise, the sound of outboard motors and the smell of bacon and egg rolls. It was fantastic to see kids from as young as eight to as old as fourteen come together and enjoy the day, especially given the restraints placed on all community sport due to COVID–19.
Many thanks go out to the organisers, officials, IRB Crews, water safety personnel, Woolgoolga’s Silver Salties, all the Club’s and their members who attended. And lastly, to Woolgoolga SLSC for hosting another great carnival.
The carnival attracted 190 competitors with Woolgoolga SLSC winning the overall pointscore. Results as follows: Woolgoolga 744; Coffs Harbour 459; Sawtell 350; Urunga and Nambucca Heads both on 55 and Minnie Water-Wooli 31.
