Lifesaving Development Camp

Our future leaders

During the April School Holidays, Isaiha Phillips (Sawtell), Octavius Corcoran (Minnie Water Wooli), Fiona Lane (Sawtell) and Patrick Mullan (Woolgoolga) travelled as candidates and leaders to attend the inaugural Surf Life Saving NSW Lifesaving Development Camp.

The live-in program focuses on developing and enhancing the knowledge and skills of young people, while preparing them to take on more responsibility in their patrol teams, their own clubs, and the wider community. Isaiha and Octavius participated in exciting, fast-paced simulated lifesaving scenarios using the standard patrolling equipment to manage ‘no-notice’ scenarios that became more complex as their skills developed. For a better insight check out the wrap up video here.

From all accounts all participants thoroughly enjoyed their respective programs and gained extremely valuable skills from the week away. We look forward to seeing their ongoing contributions to their clubs and our branch.
